Medieval chess set, leather board and collectible pieces: one a kind crafstmanship.

Exceptional chess set, composed of a golden embossed leather board, entirely handmade and original Mokarex collectible pieces dating from 1961, patinated for the occasion...

This chessboard of approximately 45.5X45,5cm is a "Gothic flamboyant" inspired art piece, typical of the 15th century...
Squares gilded with a brush (metallic pigments) with a fine rosette design, alternate with squares carved diagonally and patinated in shades of aged brown, on a black relief frame which enhances the contrast...

This sheet of leather, in a single piece (it is in no way a mosaic or patchwork!) is all glued to a piece of 15mm thick plywood, enhanced with a frieze of leather rosettes, worked with the same way.

At the corners, 4 renovated "Daisies" upholstery nails, in copper-plated brass, from neo-Gothic furniture from the beginning of the 20th century, highlight the whole and the 4 decorative paw-shaped feet.

The pieces are authentic collectible Mokarex, from 1961 (not a reissue), dedicated to the court of King Louis XI and the Duke of Burgundy Charles the Bold.
They measure approximately 9cm high, and each pawn is a different soldier from the period army corps: crossbowman, culverinier, halberdier, archer, etc...
The richness of the details of each piece is highlighted by a delicate painting work done with special figurine acrylic from the brand "The army painter", and varnished.
Their base has a leather disc with our logo to facilitate their sliding on the tray...

More than 70 hours of meticulous work were necessary to develop it.
